[RL w/Haruhi - Will we ever make up and be friends?]

[Ten is, to put it lightly, completely and utterly fed up at the moment - with the universe at large, yes, but mostly with himself for being a prize idiot. He's called Itsuki's phone ahead of time to speak to her and tell her that he's coming along, but their conversation didn't last long and it was more than a little strained. Which he guesses he can't blame her for.

At all, in fact.

Suffice it to say that his nerves are now a lot more frazzled than they've been in a while. Monsters? No problem. Overthrowing dictatorships, stopping wars, saving as many lives as he can? He's your man. But domesticity - he hasn't been able to manage domesticity properly since he regenerated into his ninth incarnation. He tries, but it's difficult, and this little incident has just proved why.

Bugger this. He stands in a corridor in Itsuki's house and rubs his hands over his face before he knocks on the door of the living room, where he's been told Haruhi is.]

[inhales shakily and wipes her nose before pressing her face into her knees]

"Maybe. But that doesn't matter to me." [Pause] "Well, okay, I lied. It does. But you matter more."

[Smiles through the hug. That's more like it.]

"That's my girl."

[she's pulled away from him at this point]

[That stings, and it probably shows. When he speaks again, his voice is dangerously low.]

"D'you think that the amount that I love someone is decided just by what they can do?"

It's not about who you love, it's about who you want more in the end.

[jerks away from him and raises her arms in front of her face, as though protecting herself against possible physical threats]

[His eyes widen and he seems to visibly deflate. When he next speaks, he sounds every one of his 904 years.]

"Haruhi, I'm not going to hurt you."

[He sighs heavily] "I just... what will it take for you to believe that I'm always gonna want you around?"

I don't know how to be wanted.

"What do you mean?"

No one's ever wanted me before, I don't know how to do it. Or believe it.

"Well, I can't exactly prove it to you if you keep running away from me, now can I?"

[Smiles weakly and opens his arms, inviting her for a hug if she wants it]
