[RL w/Haruhi - Will we ever make up and be friends?]

[Ten is, to put it lightly, completely and utterly fed up at the moment - with the universe at large, yes, but mostly with himself for being a prize idiot. He's called Itsuki's phone ahead of time to speak to her and tell her that he's coming along, but their conversation didn't last long and it was more than a little strained. Which he guesses he can't blame her for.

At all, in fact.

Suffice it to say that his nerves are now a lot more frazzled than they've been in a while. Monsters? No problem. Overthrowing dictatorships, stopping wars, saving as many lives as he can? He's your man. But domesticity - he hasn't been able to manage domesticity properly since he regenerated into his ninth incarnation. He tries, but it's difficult, and this little incident has just proved why.

Bugger this. He stands in a corridor in Itsuki's house and rubs his hands over his face before he knocks on the door of the living room, where he's been told Haruhi is.]

[Shifts awkwardly]

"What, and just give up, just like that?"

I dunno. I thought you might be tired of it.

[Closes the door behind him. Might be an idea to move further into the room]

"Tired of what?"

[Blinks]

"What? Why would I?"

[Eyes really widening here, before his mouth settles into a thin line]

"No. No, you're not. Not at all."

[Crosses over to her] "Why would you say something like that, Haruhi?"

Because I ran away, hurt you, and I'm always jealous.

[timey_wimey]

[Snorts and sits down on the arm of the nearest sofa]

"I'm old, I've had more than enough of life to be able to deal with those things. Besides..." [Rubs eye awkwardly, his voice becoming more serious] "You only ran away because I screwed up first."

[Nods in understanding, and hesitates a little before speaking]

"I'm sorry. For not talking to you properly about Jenny."

Maybe it wouldn't have mattered anyway.

"What do you mean by that?"

[looks down]

Maybe I'd still be here, still be jealous.

[Studies her for a moment, not completely sure how to play this]

"Well. If that had happened, I'd still be here as well."

[Scratches the back of his neck awkwardly]

"Well, you know. If you'd still come here, no matter what the reason, I would have still come here, to find you."

[Looks at her sidelong]

"... You didn't think I was going to come, did you."

[mumbles, she really looks like she feels bad about this.]

[Breathes in and nods vaguely]

"Right. Well. That explains a lot."

[Looks at her, his eyes seeming to look right at her. He's remembering what Jordan said, and hoping that he doesn't screw what he's about to say up.]

"Haruhi, you know that I love you, don't you?"
