Erm. Well.

... There's really no right way to say this in an entry. Um.

Right.

I think I've got something that you lot... really should know.

[her breath hitches slightly but she still doesn't speak]

[Looks over at her.] I mean that.

[nods]

[Looks up at the ceiling.] We don't have to talk if you don't want. But if we're leaving this room, we're leaving it together.

[goes back to silence, except for coughing painfully every now and then]

[Fidgets a little, looking up every time she coughs]

... You know, if you want me to talk, I will. Just if you want background noise, I dunno.

[is still quiet except for the coughing. She's clearly to broken to deal with the world right now]

[Sits for a little while longer in silence before getting up and standing over the bin, looking at the stuffed panda inside as if he's trying to decide something. After a minute or so he fishes it out of the bin and brings it over, sitting it down on his side furthest away from Haruhi.]

[wraps her arms around her knees and buries her face in them, still coughing]

[Finally he sighs and opens his arms sadly.]

Come here.

[scoots into his lap and leans her back against his chest]

[Loosely hugs her and sits peaceably for a bit.]

Thought it would be easier by now.

You'd think so.

...It hurts.

[He nods once.]

I can't stop it hurting. But I can be here to help a bit. Or try, at least.

Why? Why can't you? You can do everything else?

I know I'm brilliant, Haruhi, but even I can't help with some things.

That's so unfair.

I know.

My chest hurts.

[Hugs her tightly]

It's not just your cough, is it?

[yay for warm hugs]

My cough has been better.

[Nods again and sighs.]

It'll get better. [It's not really certain if he's talking about the cough or about the situation in general.]

...[curls up in his arms]

I'm just still waiting.
