[Rose and Ten - RESCUE POST!]

The Doctor's (hereafter to be referred to as Ten to avoid confusion) TARDIS materialises into view in a small niche on Cassiopeia V, out of sight of any passers-by - not that he doesn't trust the perception filter, but he'd rather not take any chances.

Stepping out of the TARDIS, he glances around for another one, his normally carefree face sporting a worried expression. It's time to put an end to this madness.

There's a second one not too far from where his materialized - exactly the same in every detail but one. This one has a blonde standing in front of it, her expression just as worried.

"Doctor."

But her eyes are glad to see him.

He manages a smile - a real, genuine one - for a moment when he sees her, his eyes lighting up.

"Rose!"

He glances at the other TARDIS approvingly, putting a hand on her briefly. "You've been taking care of her, I see," he smiles, for something to say. Though he'd never admit it, he's feeling awkward. He's not sure how to act, or what to say, and he's painfully aware that the other him is still out there and in dire straits at the moment. That, more than anything else, is enough to put him on edge.

"Of course I have. You'd never let me live it down if I didn't. Well, the other you." Rose isn't going to stop staring at him for a few minutes. She already knows how much she loves his older self.

Didn't count on realizing she really loves this version of him,too. Bugger.

"So what's the plan, Doctor?"

Ten snaps back to reality, his gaze being drawn back from somewhere in the locality of a point about a foot above Rose's left shoulder and back to her face. "Yes. Plan. Um..."

He shrugs and sighs. "Well, I managed to get a reading on him. Only briefly, mind you," he says heavily, leaning on the TARDIS. "Then I lost him again. So, at the minute, the plan is to come up with a plan. I've always wanted to say that! Plan to come up with a plan..."

He quickly sobers up again. "Anyway. We'll find him. Somehow."

Rose moves forward, until she's standing right in front of him, and reaches up, briefly resting her fingers against his cheek. "We'll find him. Bring him back. Fix him up right. Don't for a minute think we won't, Doctor."

Beat.

"I'm so sorry, Doctor. I am." Then, "Better take yours. We'll leave his hear and come back for it when everything is over."

His eyes flutter shut briefly, and he nods, though to which statement is unclear. "'Course we will. When haven't we ever?" He smiles.

"Right then, let's get to work!" Taking her hand, at first hesitantly, but covering it quickly by wrapping his fingers around hers, he leads her over to his TARDIS.
