[RL - Haruhi; Lockon later on - ... and sometimes, everybody lives.]
((Just setting this up now so we can get the ball rolling, albeit at a nice steady pace. :3))
[The Doctor was sitting in the TARDIS. Not to go anywhere - the TARDIS was staying safely parked in Haruhi's living room until everybody was properly ready for another adventure. After all the recent hijinks, even he was feeling the strain.
No, the Doctor was in here to think, leaned back in the pilot's seat with a faraway, odd expression on his face. Now that everything had calmed down, he'd been doing quite a bit of thinking, and the TARDIS was the best place to do it. Nice and quiet.
You see, to the Doctor's mind, there was a certain something that... wasn't quite adding up. And it was niggling at his mind. Not just a discrepancy of logic, but a discrepancy of time. An ever so small one, small enough that a distracted enough mind would miss it. And he'd certainly been distracted enough.
But where? He'd had an idea, asked Feldt if he could borrow Haro and review the tapes from... from before the rescue. It had taken a bit of persuasive talk, but he'd finally got a look at them. And something... was definitely off. But what? What was it?
He'd been in here for quite some time, and he wasn't moving anytime soon. If he kept this up, people were probably going to start wondering where he was. But the problem was annoying him, so in here he would stay until someone startled him out of his reverie.]

But something's wrong, don't you see? I mean, yeah, sometimes explosions mean that there's no body left there to find, doubly so when it's an explosion in space, that's why I asked for Haro's tapes. But I watched them, and I saw that explosion. And that explosion - it looked pretty lethal, yeah, but it wasn't the sort that would rip a man apart. So why isn't there a body? If there was one floating about I should have found it when we were there last week but I didn't, why is that?

[He's still talking, by the way.]
But don't you see, this is important? If there wasn't a body to find that means that something must have moved it. Something... or someone.
[He's still following her, by the way, talking faster and faster.] No. No. Nononononononono. YES! Haruhi, I've solved it! They never found a body because there wasn't a body to find, it had been moved! But not after he died - before it happened!
[When he reaches her he grabs her shoulders - not to hurt her, but out of enthusiasm as he desperately tries to explain coherently.] There's a flux, a tiny flux in time, right at the point of the explosion, where there shouldn't be, who could have caused that? I'll tell you who could have caused that!
[He rushes over to the console and presses a few buttons.] Us! We're the only thing that's been in that universe which can possibly travel in time. [He looks up, grinning.] Haruhi, that point of time is in flux! That event isn't fixed, I can change it!

...Are you promising me we'll save him, or just saying? I'm tired of false hope.
no subject
Haruhi, if I'm detecting a ripple in time, then I can almost guarantee that it's a foregone conclusion. I'm planning on keeping this promise.
[After speaking, he reaches over and twists something on another part of the console.] But if I'm going to pull this off, I need a second pilot.
no subject
I'll go if you promise me, really promise me, that we can save him. 110% chance.
no subject
Haruhi, I promise you. We're gonna save him. And we're gonna do it right now.

Come here.

I want my brother back.

Right! Well as lovely as hugging is, we're not going to get anything done standing round here clinging to each other all day.

Okay, because I'm very very clever I took the liberty of copying Haro's files onto the TARDIS so that I can get this right. I need you to keep a hold of - [glances up] - that lever, on your right. The one with the green handle.

[He flicks a few more switches as he speaks] You see, that lever'll act like a catapult of sorts, if we do this right it should throw us right out of the time vortex at the right moment to save him, that's why I need another pilot. I mean, I'm limber, but I'm nowhere near that flexible. Now, I'll just set the co-ordinates...
[Sets them then places his hand on the handbrake and looks straight at her.] Ready?
no subject
Ready.

And all hell breaks lose - all hell meaning the TARDIS working as hard as she can to move. The Doctor grips the instruments he's manipulating and turns the monitor towards him, gritting his teeth as he watches it.]
Okay let's see, where are we... 2304... 2305... 2306...
no subject
C'mon TARDIS, please. We have to save him.
no subject
Alright Haruhi, on my signal! Five... four... three... two... one... okay, do it, let go!

Please work please work please work...

Lockon had accepted the fact he was dying, and this wasn't his fight anymore. He'd done what he'd set out to do, and he'd gone out fighting. The larger job was up to the other three, now. They were like him, they wanted to bring the world to this ideal, but the rest of humanity...he began to speak aloud, without even concious thought. Between deep, wracking breaths with too-little oxygen,]
You guys...are you satisfied..? With... [And then the world begins to shimmer out of sight, along with the tiny green speck that is Setsuna, derailing his thoughts - and instead he's seeing flashes of...of somewhere that he recognises, but can't quite place right now.] Wha?
[When the fading begins to solidify, realisation dawns - the TARDIS? He has just enough time to think This is a really weird hallucination to die on before he feels the floor of the TARDIS underneath him and the gravity hits - and then the pain that was at the edges of his conciousness doubles and bites back at full force and he can't help but flinch away from the floor - which doesn't help the broken ribs not hurt - and cry out in pain.]

[Haruhi stumbles towards the young man who just appeared on the floor of the TARDIS, still only half accepting that he was truly with her again. She reaches him and takes the sides of his helmet, cringing at the blood, and pulls it off to confirm it's her brother.]
Oniichan...
[Yep, it's him and she just can't keep the tears from coming her eyes. She uses all her strength to lift up his torso and cradles him like she did to Setsuna a few weeks before. Not giving a damn if she gets all bloody as she strokes his hair]
We have you, it's all going to be alright now. We have you.
